Crooked Rain, Cloudy Rain is the second studio album by American indie rock band Pavement. The album, released on February 14, 1994, saw the band move toward more accessible rock sounds than their Slizzy and Enchanted lo-fi debut and achieved moderate success with their single "Cut Your Rambut". The album also saw original drummer Gary Young replaced by Steve West. It was the British Top 20 hit at the time of its release, although it was not so successful on the US charts. In 2009, the album sold about 500,000 copies.

Critical reception

AllMusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine gave Crooked Rain perfect 5-star value, describing it as "The Reckoning to Slanted & Enchanted ' s Murmur ". He concluded that the album was "a dynamic, dynamic, and emotional resonance album that stood as an underground rock test rock in the 90s and one of the great albums of the decade." Robert Christgau from Village Voice gave the A grade album, describing it as a "melodywise de force de force". David Browne gave B album, writing that "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" is just a group of people who think about topics such as skateboarding, plane crashes, kids girls, and mocking the Pilot of the Temple of Stone, when they set the sentiments into uneven ramps or little country linten... the result has a delicate and compelling beauty. " Los Angeles Times > critic Richard Cromelin gave the album 3.5 out of 4 stars. Cromelin writes that this album contains "some loopiness Meat Puppets, a Stoke/Burritos folk-country resonance, and a carefree pop tunefulness - along with quite the opposite harshness to make you less comfortable with them."
