John Muir Health is a health care service headquartered in Walnut Creek, California and serves the Contra Costa County, California, and surrounding communities. Formed in 1997 from the merger of John Muir Medical Center and Mt. Diablo Medical Center.
John Muir Health includes two of the largest medical centers in Contra Costa County: John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek, a medical center that serves as the only trauma center designated by Contra Costa County; and John Muir Medical Center, Concord. Together, they are recognized as a superior center for neuroscience, orthopedics, cancer care, cardiovascular care and high-risk obstetrics. Other areas of specialization include general surgery, robotic surgery, weight loss surgery, rehabilitation and critical care. Both hospitals are accredited by The Joint Commission, a nationwide surveyor of quality patient care.
John Muir Health also offers a comprehensive outpatient and inpatient healthcare program and services at Behavioral Health Center, a fully accredited mental hospital, 73 beds located in Concord.
Since its founding in 1996, Doctor Network John Muir has become one of the largest physician networks in Northern California, with over 900 primary care physicians and specialists. Doctors associated with the Doctor Network are included in the John Muir Medical Group (JMMG) or Muir Medical Group IPA, Inc. The Doctor Network owns and operates primary care practices managed by JMMG doctors in 23 locations from Brentwood to Pleasanton.
In addition, John Muir Health provides outpatient services across communities and urgent care centers in Brentwood, Concord, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek.

In 2011, for the fifth year in a row, it was recognized as one of the Bay Area and state uppermost hospitals by US News & amp; World Report. John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek is also one of only a few hospitals in California that receive Magnet recognition status for excellence in quality care and nursing services. In the spring of 2011, Tom and Billie's Long Patient Care Tower, with 230 private rooms opened. The main areas of expansion include emergency, trauma, imaging, laboratory, surgery, critical care, neonatal intensive care unit, birth center, orthopedics and rehabilitation.

John Muir Medical Center, Concord, is an acute care facility with 257 beds serving Contra Costa and the southern Solano area. The medical center has long been recognized as a superior center for cancer care and cardiovascular care, including open heart surgery and interventional cardiology. Other areas of specialization include general surgery, orthopedic and neurology programs. The medical center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organization (JCAHO), a nationwide surveyor of quality patient care. In 2011, John Muir Medical Center, Concord was recognized as one of the Bay Area's top hospitals by the U.S. News & amp; World Report. John Muir Medical Center, Concord is also one of only a few hospitals in California that receive Magnet® recognition status for excellence in quality care and nursing services. In November 2010, The Hofmann Family Patient Care Tower opened, private patient room housing, centralized cardiovascular agency and new emergency department.
On July 28, 2011, Becker Review Hospital recorded the John Muir Medical Center, Concord under 60 Hospital With Large Orthopedic Program. Hospital orthopedic departments include joint replacement, limb care, spine surgery and sports medicine. Hospital spinal surgeons perform minimally invasive techniques for patients requiring surgical intervention.
