River Park is divided into three areas: Marketplace , a traditional powerhouse moored by Target and Kohl's; additional shopping malls with Chick-fil-A, Chipotle Mexican Grill and In-N-Out Burger, and The Shops at River Park , an outdoor lifestyle center anchored by Macy's, Edwards Theaters cinema, and REI.

History

River Park opened in several phases beginning in 1996. Target and Best Buy anchored in the early phase of the project, which also included Old Navy, Marshalls, OfficeMax, Sports Authority, JCPenney House Store, and the dead retailer Linens' n Things. Kohl's opened in 2004, followed by the expansion of the shopping center center of The Shops at River Park in 2005. It added Gottschalks and REI as an additional anchor, along with existing Home Fabrics, Borders and Edwards Cinema.. The subsequent bankruptcies and liquidations of CompUSA, Gottschalks, Borders, and Sports Authority leave some big boxes in the center, which are filled with Ashley Furniture, Macy's, H & amps. M, and Dick's Sporting Goods.

JCPenney Home Store closes in August 2017, with fewer home product choices added in the JCPenney department store near the Fashion Fair Mall.
