Grinding stones, commonly found in large rocks along valleys along creeks and used to make grain feeding for bread, are a testament to their historic existence in the area.
In the 1700s the valley where the San Diego Country Estates lies received its name when Father Mariner of Mission San Diego de AlcalÃÆ'á finds the location, proclaims it as a constant and beautiful valley, and names it in honor of Saint Vincent. When the area was colonized by Spain and then fell under the jurisdiction of Mexico, the San Vicente Valley land became part of the land grant in Mexico known as Rancho Caà ± à there de San Vicente y Mesa del Padre Barona in 1846. Under the giving of the people, prominent people like William Augustus Barnett and family, Duke, settled in the area.
