Stephen P. " Steve " Pougnet (born April 27, 1963) is an American businessman and Democrat politician who serves as mayor of Palm Springs, California from 2007 to 2015.

Pougnet was born in Flint, Michigan. Pougnet holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Michigan State University in 1985 and then started his life serving the public when he was elected to the Palm Springs City Council in 2003. Pougnet is currently awaiting indictment on corruption charges. He is free on bail of $ 25,000.

Pougnet is openly gay. She married Christopher Green in 2008, and they have two twins named Beckham and Julia.
Selection
In 2010, Pougnet ran uncontested in the June 2010 primary elections to win a Democratic nomination for a United States House of Representatives seat representing California's 45th congress district. In the November 2010 election he met with Independent President Bill Lussenheide and the Republic, Mary Bono Mack. Bono Mack defeated Pougnet and Lussenheide in the general election.
