Histori

The ground was damaged for Luxor in March 1992 and the resort officially opened at 4:00 on October 13, 1993, to a crowd of 10,000 people. When opened, the pyramid, which costs $ 375 million to build, is the tallest building on the strip and contains 2,526 rooms and a casino of 100,000 square feet (9,300 m). The resort is financed by a "small cash" earned from other Circus Circus Enterprises properties and excludes outside financial investors. The hotel pyramid has the same size as the Red Pyramids and the Bent Pyramids of Egypt.

An additional 2,000-room theater and two additional towers were added in 1998 for $ 675 million. When the resort is opened, it displays the Nile River Tour which is a river trip that takes guests to various parts of the pyramids and passes ancient artwork on the river that surrounds the casino. The casino also features Tomb and King Tut Museum, duplicate the tomb of King Tutankhamen as found in the Valley of the Kings near Luxor, Egypt.

On May 7, 2007, a vehicle exploded in Luxor Hotel's parking garage due to an artificial pipe bomb that killed one person. The local government believes the victim, a 24-year-old employee at Nathan's Famous hot dog restaurant in Luxor's food court, is the target. The hotel was not evacuated, the operation continued uninterrupted, and the parking and casino structure was not damaged. Two people were found guilty of the bombing, and in 2010 were sentenced to life imprisonment with no possibility of parole.

In July 2007, owners of MGM Resorts International announced plans to renovate Luxor thoroughly, spending $ 300 million to overhaul 80% of Luxor's public areas, erasing many ancient Egyptian themes and replacing them with more adult and modern-oriented lounges and restaurants..
