Operation

Ownership

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians sponsors the museum.

Location

The museum is located at 219 South Palm Canyon Drive (downtown Palm Springs) between Areanas Road and Baristo Road. Public transport through SunLine Transit is available on lines 111, 30 and 14. The administrative office and reference library of 1,200 volumes are located at 901 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Suite C-204, Palm Springs, CA 92262.

Affiliate

The Museum is the first Native American museum to be a part of the Smithsonian Institution's Affiliate Program.

Activities and introduction

The museum participates in the United States Museum's Alliance Museum's Assessment Program (AAM); and received the first place award in the AAM 2010 Publication Design Competition for 2009-2010 Brochure Program Program and Program Announcement Card (designed by JCRR Design).

It also collaborates with the UCLA/Getty Masters Program.

Future plans

The museum is raising funds for expansion into a 100,000 square foot facility designed by architects Jones & amp; Jones.
