Blackwater Well is a historic well in northwest San Bernardino County, California. The well was built in the 19th century by the US Army as a water stop on Granite Wells Road, which connects Death Valley with Johannesburg. This route is also part of the Twenty Mule Borax Method, and it serves as one of three water stops along the 165 mile (266 km) route. The Granite Wells Road is also a popular travel route to Death Valley, and this well serves as a campsite along the way.
The well was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 21, 2000. The Desert Turtle Conservation Committee, which has wells and surrounding land, then dismantles the well; The Land Management Bureau, the previous owner, condemned the demolition as a breach of the terms of sale.
