Fan palms as a descriptive term may refer to several different types of palms (Arecaceae) in different genera with palm leaves lubricated (not comparable to their weapon). Most are Coryphoideae subfamily members, although several genera in the subfamily Calamoideae ( Mauritius , Mauritiella and Lepidocaryum ) also have palm leaves. Genera fan includes:

- Chamaerops humilis (European fan palette)
- Hyphaene petersiana (original fan bar)
- Livistona (Chinese and other fan palm)
- Washingtonia (California's fan palm, Mexican fan bar)
- Latania (Indian Ocean fan palm)
Ravenala madagascariensis, Phenakospermum (Phenakospermum guyannense ), White Cenderawasih Bird ( Strelitzia nicolai ), and the New Guinea Fan Palm (< i> Cordyline fruticosa ) are sometimes called fan palms, because of their typical leaf shape; However there is no member of the palm family (Arecaceae).
